2024 PPOB RULES
SHOWMANSHIP
– For the 2024 showmanship contest, the exhibitor must select Heifer or Steer showmanship, not both. Showmanship will be a “blow and go”. Prizes and scholarships will be awarded.
– An exhibitor can only win senior shomanship one time. Exhibitors are eligible to compete in the heifer showmanship if they won the steer showmanship and vice versa.
– Showmanship entries will be cut off on Thursday, June 13 at 7:00 pm. You can ONLY enter at the show. No Friday morning entries.
– Exhibitors must show in steer and/or heifer show to be eligible to enter showmanship.
GENERAL
– Steers can only show as Progress OR Prospect. They cannot enter the show as both. 1 calf = 1 entry The board reserves the right to disqualify an entry if this is suspected.
– Weight Breaks for Steers:
– Progress Steers – 876 & above
– Prospect Steers – 875 & below
– If we have any cattle of a particular breed, they will show with that breed alone. We will NOT mix breeds together.
– •• BLOW AND SHOW ONLY•• No paint or adhesive
– Late entry fee of $35 per head after Sunday, June 9th. Late entries will only be accepted at the show office on Thursday, June 13th from 12 pm-3 pm. Late entries are cash or credit card only. No checks. No late entries accepted after 3pm on Thursday, June 13th.
– Top 5 calves will be placed in the Grand Drive of the prospect show & awards given
– “Weighed Out” steers will NOT receive a ribbon nor premium money and the class placing will move up. If the 1st place steer weighs out, the 2nd place steer will come back to compete for the champion breed drive.
– Any steer weighing out will forfeit all money and prizes and will not be allowed to show in the Grand Champion drive. 1st & 2nd place winners in each class will be weighed back. There is a 5% weigh back on all steers.
– Steers that weigh out in Ring A will NOT be eligible to show in Ring B
– Heifer show age – July 1, 2022 and younger
– Heifer classes will have a minimum of 3 head per class despite the age difference.
– All generators must be placed outside of barn.
Port-A-Cools ARE NOT ALLOWED. You are allowed to bring fans.
– All trailers must be parked in the lot across the street from the Ollie Liner Center unless the trailer will have cattle tied to it for outside stalling. We have limited space inside & out so we need everyone’s cooperation. No trailers can be parked at the end of the barn, on the grass in front of the barn or in the RV spots.
– Reserve RV spots online this year. Must check in at office to get RV spot assignment. No trailer parking in RV spots unless paying for spot & staying in living quarters.
– All bib tag numbers must be on the front of the exhibitor’s shirt. This allows the awards committee to match up kids with awards as they leave the show ring.
– MINIMUM AGE FOR EXHIBITORS of Mini Hereford will be 3 years of age on day of the show.
– Exhibitors must be between the ages of 8 & 19. Graduating seniors will be allowed to participate. We do host a Pee Wee Showmanship contest for our younger exhibitors.
– All inside stalls are pre-assigned as we receive paid entries. However, the board does have the right to give inside stalls away if no cattle are tied in the stall. An exhibitor can stall inside OR outside, but NOT both due to space limitations. Early entries does not mean inside stall. You must purchase inside stalls with online entries to get one. Number Of Calves Entered = Number of Stalls Reserved
– The Panhandle Parade of Breeds has some exciting news to benefit the kids!! For the 2024 show we will continue what we did in 2023 by selling tent spaces in the grass to help fund the scholarship program for high school seniors. We are excited about the opportunity to continue extending scholarships to high school seniors that exhibited cattle at the PPOB! By implementing this reservations change, our hope is that it will make it easier for everyone by not having to rope off your own spot weeks in advance. Spaces will be for cattle stalling only, not for vendor usage. Please note that everything needs to stay within the boundaries of the space. If you need additional space, you may consider getting multiple spots. Tent rental spaces will be auctioned of on May 5th on SC Online Sales. For any questions please call Matt Henley (806)789-9380 or Kendall Long (806)292-6957. Help us spread the word as this will be the only means to get space for a tent.Thank you for your support of PPOB and most importantly the kids!
– If you want indoor stalls reserved, you must complete entries online. Stall reservations are online only. You cannot reserve more stalls than the number of cattle entered. Late entries may not get stalls if barn is full.
– Ollie Liner Center is an alcohol free facility. If you choose to partake of alcohol outside, please make sure all beverage containers are picked up & placed in the dumpsters.
